The Precious Present!!

April 13th, 2010

Today I thought we would think about “The Precious Present”. One of the hardest things for women to do is “balance” all that we have on our plate.  Recent studies show women are more successful at work and we are finally starting to earn similar money (or sometimes more) as Men, but we are less “happy” over all.. Why is that?  Because we still feel like we have to “do it all” and we don’t know how to balance things.  When Men have these high profile jobs, that is all they do! Think about it.. they have women take care of them at home, they have women (most of the time) take care of them at work, they just “do their job”.. I always say “I need a wife to take care of me too!!”…  :) One of the greatest mentors of mine was Jim Rohn.  He has a philosophy on this that I really like. It deals with doing what you are doing at THAT moment full out, then move to the next thing and be fully present there..  I don’t know about you, but I am frequently thinking about work when I am home and I am thinking of home when I am at work.  But if we can just be fully present to where ever we are at that time, we can get that done and move on..  This will bring order to the mind and peace to the heart..  So…. with that said, here are some words from Jim Rohn…

Concentration

The best advice I ever came across on the subject of concentration is: Wherever you are, be there.

When you work, work. When you play, play. Don’t mix the two.

Give whatever you are doing and whoever you are the gift of attention.

On the way to work, concentrate on the way—not the work   —-Jim Rohn

Enjoy TODAY and “The Precious Present”..

Hold Fast to your Dream!!

April 6th, 2010

“Never let discouraging people and discouraging situations talk you out of your dream.”~Joel Osteen

Do you have a dream or a heart’s desire that you have been pursuing?  Maybe it’s to start your own business, to land a promotion in your current job,  to get healthy or more fit, to write a book…the list goes on.  Whatever dream you are holding onto – and willing to work hard for – don’t let others discourage you.  Don’t let setbacks get you down.  You have greatness within you and amazing ability to achieve awesome things.

Make a commitment to yourself that you WILL achieve your dream, but you must ACT!! Take some time to write down what it is you want–be SPECIFIC!!  and write it like it has already occurred (“I am so happy and grateful now that……  “).  Then read it every day, surround yourself with “believers” and leave the “dream stealers” behind!  Then take little action steps every day toward realizing your dream and soon… you will be basking in the sun of “possibility”!!

Believe and you WILL achieve!!

Spring is here!! Here is a thought for today!

April 1st, 2010

Today I was looking for something about April as we welcome what is to me the first real month of SPRING!!  I did find this interesting poem.. I love it because it reminds me of my childhood when I would enjoy walking on the beach when the spring is in the air, yet the winter is still just holding on.  We are in a beautiful transition of cold to warmth and as we enjoy this wonderful (hopefully) sunshine filled day, let us remember our childhood—where ever our paths had led us!
A Sandy Beach In April
I stood on a sandy beach
on an April weekend.
The sun was shining bright
on each wave
that carried its reflection in.
The sky in the west
was filled with mottled clouds
and on occasional breaks;
the sun’s rays peaked through.
An easterly breeze
lifted the sand into little swirls
and carried them a short while
before depositing them down again,
as I walked along a sandy beach in April.

I hope you all have a GREAT day and that you are able to take a moment and “walk on the beach” … in your mind…  bring forth the joys of your youth and the sweet memories of many springs!!

What are YOU grateful for today?!!
